Obituary for Katherine Pidhirny (Mitanis)
Katherine Pidhirny, passed away peacefully at Bradford Valley Care Community in Bradford on Monday February 15, 2021 at the age of 97. Loving wife of the late Peter Pidhirny. Beloved mother of Sharon (Tom D’Amelio), Christine (Doug Dean), and Stephen (Kelly Coones).
Loving and proud grandmother of Derek (Jessica), Andrew (Brenna), Brendan (Saman), Colin (Samantha), Keara (Trevor) and Austin. Predeceased by her brothers Jack and George and her sister Sandra.
Katherine was born on December 8, 1923 in Gavros Greece to Chris Mitanis and Stoia Vadouris and at a young age immigrated to Canada with her family. Katherine was a long time employee of Fran’s Restaurant and Simpsons Yorkdale. In retirement she even took a part-time job at the CIBC.
Her grandchildren have many fond memories of spending summers and holidays with their grandmother (affectionately known as Bubbie). Enjoying the pool, BBQ’s, day trips restaurants etc.
The family would like to thank all the medical staff, nurses and PSW’s at Bradford Valley for the outstanding care they provided Katherine.
