Obituary for Kristen Marie Bugeja

Kristen Marie Bugeja

Born: October 17, 1988, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada

A deep sadness is being felt by all who’s hearts she touched

Kristen Marie Bugeja passed away suddenly at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario on Sunday March 27th 2022, in her 33rd year.

Sweet and loving daughter of Joseph and Deborah Bugeja. Beloved sister of Daniel Bugeja.

Precious granddaughter of the late Terry and Margaret Ryan, the late Helen Bugeja and her living Grandfather Eucharistic Bugeja.

Beautiful Niece to Carl and Margareth Ainley, Gary and Paula Ryan

Fond cousin to Carissa Ainley, Erik, Curtis and Kevin Ryan

Cherished Girlfriend of Dave Douglas

Kristen was born in Newmarket, Ontario and lived in and around the area all her life. Her inherent need to help people was demonstrated through her brief but highly esteemed nursing career. She was a Registered Practical Nurse and in her early career cared mainly for the elderly. Most recently she worked on the Covid vaccination team through the Simcoe Muskoka District. Despite her young age, Kristen’s achievements are numerous including other key health care positions.

Her academic achievements and one of her proudest moments include being chosen as valedictorian in her graduating year as a nurse at Seneca College. Her family and friends could not have been prouder.

Kristen had many interests and squeezed as much enjoyment as possible from her passions: whether it was watching or attending Maple Leaf and Marlies games with family and friends, doing yoga and meditation, reading or Scuba Diving with a close friend. But her ultimate passions were photography, running, hiking and exploring nature with her family, friends and most certainly with her beloved dog Azura. Her recent accomplishments include running a half marathon with her mother in Banff Alberta in the fall of 2021 and she recently undertook to hiking segments of the Bruce Trail with the ultimate goal of covering the entire 904 kilometres of the trail. She was well on her way and had covered in and around 600 kilometres receiving ‘end to end’ completion badges for each of the segments she conquered and had her end goal in sight. It would not be unusual on any given day off to drive sometimes hours to her next starting point to start her trek at sunrise and would gladly hike till dusk would force her to another ending off point. Along each and every step Kristen would always be in search of one of the many beautiful waterfalls, along with the amazing look out points and vistas the trail offers capturing photos of the beauty she encountered with each and every hike. She loved hanging out with friends and family and surrounded us like a whirlwind of energy, fun and laughter, especially at her family’s camp in Parry Sound. She was an advocate for self-expression, connecting with her spirituality and charging head-on through life with a strong sense of gratitude, acceptance and love for herself and anyone she touched.

Kristen once quoted the words of writer Paulo Coelho: “Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” She lived by those words with every connection she made in her life. Despite her far too brief time with us, we feel utterly blessed Kristen touched our lives and she will forever be a beacon of light and the love in our hearts.
