Obituary for Lewis Clifford Barclay

Lewis Clifford Barclay
September 26th 1929 - August 6th, 2021

“ A life well lived is not measured by the things you accumulate but by the lives you enrich “

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Lewis Barclay who was in his 92nd year.
On Friday August 6th 2021, Lew passed away at Southlake Regional Hospital surrounded by
his loving family after a brief illness.

Lew was born in Hamilton, Ontario, predeceased by his father Clifford Barclay and mother
Telma ( Lewis ) he was the youngest brother of Richard, June, Bernice and Dorthy. After the
passing of his mother shortly after his birth, Lew was raised by his Aunt Audrey on a farm in
Stouffville, Ontario where he lived until early adult years.

Growing up on the farm shaped who Lew was. He made Newmarket his home for over 70 years
along with his wife of 53 years Doni (Deceased ). He was a devoted father to Sherry and son in
law Kevin ( Still ) and loving poppa to his granddaughter Grace. He supported the community in
many ways and was a well known entrepreneur for more than 50 years in Newmarket. He was a
well respected Mason ( Tuscan Lodge 99 ) and Shriner. But most of all Lew will be remembered
for his kindness, incredible generosity, his big smile, infectious laugh, his ability for storytelling
and his absolute adoration of his family and friends.

We wish to recognize Lew’s dear neighbours to whom we are forever grateful, Lyle, Sharon and
Kim Carson along with Peter and Kim Zaremba for their loving support and friendship over the
many years. Thank you to all of Lew’s close friends, Mason and Shriner connections, visiting
and checking in with him often; enabling him to live a full and happy life at home until the very
end.
