Obituary for Linda Hamilton (Shortland)

Linda Hamilton, only child of John and Phyllis Shortland, was born on October 19, 1946 in Wembley, London, England. She came to Canada in 1969 where she met her husband Scotty (Lachlan) Hamilton. They married on February 16, 1974. Her in-laws William and Rubina Hamilton quickly welcomed and accepted her as part of the family.

Linda passed peacefully on December 14, 2018 at Southlake Hospital in Newmarket with family by her side. She is survived by her husband Scotty, son Bill (Heather), daughter Jacquie (Mark).

Linda was a proud and active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Anyone who knew her knew she had a cheeky sense of humour. She enjoyed a good laugh as much as she loved making others laugh. She was a compassionate and understanding person. She was a kind soul with a fiesty side and she wasn't afraid of anything. When she loved someone, she loved them with her whole heart. She was a music lover and attended many concerts over the years. She was a lifelong fan of Coronation Street. She had an ever-growing collection of raccoon items, one of her favourite things (she called them her fur babies). She touched our hearts and will be missed by many.

There are viewings on Tuesday December 18th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 645pm.

There is a funeral service on Wednesday December 19th at 1pm with reception to follow at the Newmarket Masonic Hall close by.
