Obituary for Lisa Jane Chong (Lemieux)

Lisa passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at Southlake Regional Health Center, in Newmarket, ON, after battling cancer for more than a year. Lisa fought tenaciously with every ounce of her being for her friends and family, through all sorts of chemotherapies, surgeries, and treatments, all the way to the very end. Lisa was peaceful and comfortable when she left us, with family by her side every step of the way.

Lisa dedicated her life to caring about people and building community. Professionally, she left her mark on Famous PEOPLE Players, the Inn From the Cold, and the Richmond Hill Board of Trade. At home, she was our chief party planner and instigator of gatherings of friends and family. She held the people she loved closely and kept us all connected to herself and to each other. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed, most especially by her husband, Sean, and their son, Spencer; her parents, Jane and Paul Lemieux; her sister and brother-in-law, Kerry and Ted Folkman; and her nephew and niece Jonah and Isabelle Folkman.

Through this entire ordeal, Lisa was adamant that her story would not end here. And it won’t. It will continue through all of us who were fortunate enough to have her in our lives. Thank you for continuing to write her story.

We will be holding a celebration of Life gathering on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 3-5 PM at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket, ON. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake. Link is: https://southlake.ca/patient-care-program/cancer
