Obituary for Mayme Williams

Mabel (“Mayme”) Annette Williams (née Ritchie) 1921 – 2022

Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Griffith Bernard Williams, Mayme passed away peacefully on May 16th.  She was a devoted mother to Jannette (spouse Jim), and Ron (wife Judith), and grandmother to Trevor.
At an early age, she took up dancing:  pointe ballet, Scottish Highland, tap, and folk.  As a member of a dance troupe that travelled to bases in Ontario and Quebec, she entertained our troops during WWII.
Mayme was a fashion designer in Toronto’s garment industry until she was married. She later taught dressmaking and fashion for TDSB continuing education.  She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi, and enjoyed travelling well into her 90s.
Her family is grateful to the supportive staff at Cedarvale Lodge retirement residence and to the sensitive care providers at the Margaret Bahen Hospice.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home in Newmarket.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice, Southlake Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of your choice.
