DRINKWALTER, Madeline Edna (Beardsley)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Madeline on Monday May 4, 2020 at Southlake Residential Care Village at the age of 93. Madeline is reunited with her late husband Oliver and infant daughter, Donna. Dearly loved Mom of Rhonda St. John (the late Allen), Marilyn Andrus (Vern), David (Kerri-Ann) and Dianne O’Brien. Proud Grandma of Allison, Natalie, Mandy, Ashley, Brandon, Kristen and Riley; and Great Grandma of Morgan, Jessica, Tyson, Sierra, Owen, Anthony, Henley, Ryan and Riley.

A special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tung and all the wonderful, compassionate staff on 4E at Southlake Residential Care Village who have become our second family. Mom loved her caregivers, particularly her beloved PSW, Trudy.
A Private Funeral Service took place on May 7, 2020 at the Roadhouse & Rose Chapel. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Madeline can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada or The Salvation Army. On-line condolences may be made at

I am saddened to hear of your Mom's passing.

Rhonda St. John Posted at 03:06pm

Thank you so much Carol. I haven't seen you in years and I hope you are doing well. (I'm sorry, I know I wrote this before, but then the comment seemed to disappear - not sure if my laptop or something funky with the website).

My sympathy and condolences go out to all of you at this time of sorrow. I was able to view the funeral and thought that it was a beautiful tribute to Madeline. Your Mom/Grandmother was a great lady and I always enjoyed when I had the opportunity to spend time and chat with her. Keep your memories close as they will help you during this rough time.

Thank you for your kind words, Ruth (and lovely text). I know Mom always enjoyed her chats with you and your Mom as well. I'm glad you got to view the service. We didn't realize the great slide show Natalie put together wasn't being shown on line. The funeral home has saved the funeral service and is going to add the slide show and send it to us. We will make sure we send you the slide show.

Dear Rhonda,
We were so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Mom. It was a lovely service and you honoured her beautifully.
Sending our love and prayers to you and your family.

Thanks so much for your kind words, Judy - and for your text and phone call as well. It was so nice to hear your voice. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, but time was very short. Arranging a COVID funeral is a bit of a challenge! I'm so happy you were able to view the service. When the Funeral Home adds the slide show to the service- which they are saving-and sends it to me, I'll send you the slide show. Hugs to you, Sam, Michael and Emily, and I do look forward to getting together with you once COVID clears out. xoxo
