Obituary for Maria Fic (Wiktorowicz)

FIC, Maria (nee Wiktorowicz)
Passed away peacefully with family by her side in the early morning of Saturday October 15, 2022, at Southlake Residential Care Village at the amazing age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Marian (d. 1983). Loving mother of Anne, Christine, and her husband Jacques (former husband the late Jack Dunbar d.1991).

The late Edward (d. 2019) and his surviving spouse Christine (and former spouse Ginet Waters-Fic).

Proud grandmother of Christian, Melanie, Yan, Kevin (Nicole), Matthew (Stephanie), Mark and Paul. Great grandmother of Melie, Yan Jr., Colby, Juliet, Kara, and Leah.

Predeceased by her siblings, Stanislaw (Jadwiga) and Theresa (Tadeuse) and her dear parents Ludwig and Anna Wiktorowicz. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Maria was born in Poland in 1925. As a young girl living in Poland, she enjoyed school and loved to learn. She survived through WWII and married her sweetheart Marian in 1945. They immigrated to Canada to begin a new life together.
Maria was an extremely resourceful woman and that showed in how she raised her children and how she helped her husband run their car dealership business for several years.

After the passing of her husband, she moved to Aurora, Ontario in 1985 where she spent many years with family and friends. She enjoyed travelling, knitting, and crocheting and had a passion for cooking. She had a love for music and dancing and socializing. Maria loved life and always had a good word and a smile for everyone.

Her favourite pastime of late was to sit in the sunshine and soak up the warmth of the sun on her face. She will be sadly missed by her loving family.

The family would like to thank the compassionate nursing staff at Southlake Residential Care Village who cared for her over the past 13 years.

Memorial visitation will be held at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket on Saturday October 22, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m.
