Obituary

Peterson, Patricia Anne (Morris) - Passed away at Aurora Resthaven, Aurora, on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at 76 years of age. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Peterson and devoted mother of Kymm Dracup, Kyle Peterson (Andrea) and Korri Hogg (Steve). Loving grandmother of Jordynn, Kolton, Sloane and Kash. Sister of Bruce Morris (Jill). Dear daughter of the late Whittier and Norma Morris. Pat's caring ways were appreciated by all who met her. She thoroughly enjoyed people and will be missed by her many friends and family. She will also be missed by her children's friends. She treated them as family with a genuine interest in their lives. She had a zest for life. More often than not, she was the first one on the dance floor. Kenny will be happy to have his dance partner by his side once again. Very special thanks to the amazing staff of Chartwell Aurora. Cremation has already taken place. Funeral service and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. If desired, memorial donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario's COVID-19 Response - Alzheimer Society of Ontario

I have many fond stories and memories of Pat. She was the mom of my good friend Kyle and when I think of her, I want to describe her as a very caring and extremely kind lady. She was always interested in hearing about how others were doing and was sincere in her words to the people she made friends with. Pat was always up for a good laugh and enjoyed the company of others who did the same. My favorite memory of Pat took place 30 years ago and it definitely involved some good laughs. Pat had hired the student painting company that I was working for at the time to paint the outside of the family cottage. This was a great job for a starving student as Pat opened her home-away-from home to me and some of my colleagues while we painted the cottage during that hot July week. Pat served lunch everyday and didn’t get angry when a couple of Kenny’s Labatt Blue went missing from the fridge in the mud room. The last night of our stay Pat was insistent that she would take the crew out for some good Chinese food at an old place down to road in the town of Gelert ON. When we showed up at Gelert Gardens it had turned into what appeared to be a “biker-type” bar since her last visit there with the kids 10 years prior. Pat was unfazed with the new look of the place and headed in through the front door while the crew and I followed. Right after our meals had arrived at the table, a biker walked into the bar joined by a scantily clad young lady who immediately walked directly up to the stage at the front of the bar. At which time, the lady cued up some music with the DJ and proceeded to disrobe! What Pat and the crew had failed to realize was that the new owner of the establishment made a few changes to the venue over the years which included removing the Chinese food menu and adding a stripper pole. Without missing a beat, Pat quickly turned her seat around so her back now faced the stage and said something like… You guys enjoy the show, while I enjoy my pizza. The crew and I were in complete shock and I wish I could remember Pat’s exact words but all I could think about at the time was that I was at presently at the strippers with Kyle’s mom. When the shock wore off, we figured that if Pat was able to roll-with-the-punches, then so were we. Not to mention that Pat was never one to waste a meal.
We asked the waitress to bring the cheque right away and Pat didn’t judge if one of the crew happened to glance at the stage from time-to-time while scarfing down their free meal. I’m sure Pat and I have told this story a thousand times over the years, however, much like Pat, it only got better with age. Rest in peace Pat and say hi the Kenny from the Goyette’s.
