Obituary for Paul Joseph Gooderham

In loving memory of
Paul Joseph Gooderham, born at home on Roslin Avenue in Toronto on 22 March 1938 to Alice (Helm) and William Gooderham, younger brother to John Anthony Gooderham (Patricia Drolet). He lived with Alzheimer’s Disease gracefully for the past few years and died at home 30 October 2022 of congestive heart failure. Married for 63 years to Gloria Christine Walsh, his love and partner for life.

Paul grew up in Toronto, attended St. Michael’s College High School and graduated from St. Michael’s College, University of Toronto, 1960. Father to Christine, Paul, Cathy (Michael McDonnell), Michael (Lisa Manninger), Marian (James Kilpatrick) and Melinda (Michael Hartleib). Very proud grandfather of Elizabeth, Alison, Adelaide, Evan, Cecily, Nathaniel, Emma, Julia, James, Claire, Emily, and Fiona. Great grandfather to Leon and Emily.

With a witty sense of humour, he was well-loved and well-remembered as the gentleman farmer and beekeeper. He combined his business sense with his passion for nature to be a founding member of the Limestone Beekeepers’ Guild in Kingston, Ontario. Paul was a life-long learner who over the years taught himself how to play guitar, sail, make pizza, raise cows, chickens and ducks, program computers, and make home movies on film. He enjoyed sudoku, word puzzles, old movies, British comedies, opera, listening to radio shows and CBC around the clock.

With Gloria, he was able to travel the world by cruise ship, but he always liked home best. Most of all, Paul was a great father, husband and friend who was forever dedicated to his family. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Memorial Service on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S. Newmarket, ON.
