Obituary for Piers Frederick Gray

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Piers Frederick Gray. He passed away peacefully at IOOF nursing home, Barrie, Ontario on April 28, 2021 in his 93rd year after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Loving husband of Patricia Florence Gray (predeceased in 2017) for 66 years. Beloved father of Chris (Marie), Laure Foster, Elizabeth De Biasio (John) and Janet Amaro. Proud grandfather of Lee (Darryld), Kevin, Kailyn, Kelly, David, Jennifer, Kimberly (Ryan) and Jessica (Phil). Great grandfather of Katherine, Kirsten, Lily, Jack, Oliver, Valentin and Louie. Predeceased by his sisters Barbara, Jeanne and Freda and son of the late Mary Christina (Queenie) and Frederick Gray. Piers graduated from University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy in June 1953. He was the first pharmacy student to win the E. L. Wood Memorial Award for his thesis in his final year of University. He went on to work for a number of Pharmaceutical companies over his long career and retired at the age of 71 from Novopharm Limited. He loved his gardens and the water, spending many hours enjoying both. His family was, above all else, the most important thing to this wonderful man. The family would like to thank the staff and especially to those on Baldwin Lane at the IOOF for taking care of Dad especially during these very difficult times. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Due to COVID restrictions the family will have a private service and interment. A celebration of life will take place when we can all get together again. We welcome online condolences/memories at www.roadhouseandrose.com
