It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Richard Murray at Southlake RHC in Newmarket, at the age of 75. Brother to George (Jackie), the late Carol (Ron, deceased), Donna (Nory), the late Dean (Jane) and Susan (Kevin).

Born in Wingham, Ontario, the fifth child of late Ford Murray of Teeswater, and of late Jean nee Cassidy of Underwood. He grew up in Brampton, worked at Brampton Optical and Kodak before becoming police officer with Mississauga Police & Peel Regional Police for 17 years, defence paralegal (Infractions Traffic Ticket Service), Provincial Prosecutor for 14 years, and City of Guelph Prosecutor till 2013. He loved and was proud of his work in law enforcement outside and inside the courtroom. He was even prouder for being stepfather to Amy Olivier, Amanda Webster, Franci Page, and Patrick and Alan Marsh. Loving Papa to Brennan, McKenzie, Jadyn, and Daxton. Caring uncle to Ian, Lori, Darren, Cheryl, Michele, Kevin, Rhonda, Debbie, David, and Kristin. Reunited in heaven with his beloved dogs Erin, Shmedley, Benny and Penny.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Emergency Department and at MACU for their care and compassion, and who made his last days as comfortable as possible. Grateful appreciation to the MAiD doctors who gave him hope his pain would soon be over. He died before it came to be.

As per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 24, 2023, at 14:00. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Southlake Foundation, Ontario SPCA, or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made through: www.roadhouseandrose.com

Goodbye, but only for now, to an “ordinary guy” who never was ordinary.
