Obituary

SMITH, Robert "Eric"

Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 84 years of age.

Loving husband of Teri for 49 years. Beloved father of Connell (Deborah Pletsch-Smith) and Blair (Kelly Wilhelm). Proud grandfather of Dashiell, Amelia, and Audrey. Dear and only son of the late Connell and Nellie Smith.

Born and raised in Toronto but a longtime resident of Newmarket, Eric graduated from the University of Toronto's School of Architecture in 1963. He went into partnership with Fraser Milne in Newmarket in 1966, and together they designed many buildings across Ontario. Eric retired in 2007. He loved good food, good scotch, and classic cars, but he loved nothing more than his family.

Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Friday, September 27 from 2-4 p.m. All are invited to please sign the guest book.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. No flowers, please.

Dear Teri and Family:
I was shocked to hear of the news of Eric's passing. My heartfelt condolences to all of you. I will remember Eric fondly for his love of golf, and the many, many hours we spent on the road together travelling to the various Nursing Homes in the province. We shared many a laugh and interesting stories.

Dear Teri, Connell, Blair and your families, sincere condolences to all of you on the loss of Eric. Death is always hard to accept, but when it happens so suddenly it makes it all the harder. Hopefully love and fond memories will sustain you. We always remember Eric as a kind, gentle and caring person both as a good friend and neighbour. Even now, Kirsten counts some of her greatest childhood memories occurring at the Smith household.

Love Doris and family

Teri , Connell and Blair, saddened to hear of Eric’s passing.
Such a kind person and friend, I remember fondly working for Eric and Frazer weekends then heading over to Waterloo U. to finish off my last year in Architecture , don’t think I would have made it without their help, but that was Eric friendship and kindness first above all.
Here’s to a life well lived my friend.
