It is with tremendous grief, we announce the passing of Susan Ann Francis-Kerschl who died suddenly while on vacation with her family.
Susan was born in Owen Sound. In school, she was a competitive swimmer and basketball player and at home, would assist her mother with dinner and her father in his drugstore. She later obtained a Bachelor of Science, remarkably while simultaneously raising two children under 5. She had a long career in banking. Susan was stylish, creative, spirited and active; loved to travel, cottage, fish, scuba dive, ski, play tennis, hike, and golf—she even scored a hole-in-one in January.
A dedicated caretaker, Susan looked after everyone in her life. There was no limit to her commitment to family. She would drop everything when her kids needed her—and often did. Recently a grandmother, she lit up playing with little Harlow. Her strong sense of responsibility and determination was evident in all aspects of her life, including her beautiful, vibrant garden, to which we will continue to tend.
Her selfless love will be with us forever.
Susan is predeceased by her mother, Joan. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Udo Kerschl, her children, Amanda (Jeremy) and Ben, step-children, Kris and Andrea, her granddaughter, Harlow, her father, Bob Francis (Julie), siblings, John (Kathy), Michael, Paul (Joanne), Cathy (Michael) and Peter (Peggy), siblings-in-law, Volker (Farida) and Sylvia (Kirby), and her six nieces and nephews. She was also a beloved great-aunt to four.
