Obituary for Susan Jane Sheard

SHEARD, Susan, Jane –
Passed away unexpectedly at Scarborough General Hospital in Scarborough, Ontario, on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 at the age of 73. Daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Sheard. Loving sister of Robert (Lauranne) Sheard, Katherine (James) Cooney, Robert (Nadia) Wiggins. Predeceased by her sister Linda (Edward) Aukema and brother Richard (Judith) Sheard. Beloved Aunt to several nieces and nephews as well as Godmother to Luke. Susan dearly loved her two cats Samantha and Shadow who predeceased her but were never far from her heart. She was educated as a Registered Nurse at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto Hospital for Sick Children and Oshawa General Hospital. Susan decided after much reflection with spending time in her twenties nursing and exploring her own time to give her life to God and helping others by entering the convent order of the Missionary Sister’s of the Precious Blood. After much dedication, devotion, and pursuit of convent life she decided after several years to move out on her own. She became a helping hand at Seeds of Hope and Lazarus House, who work to integrate and provide a safe place or meal for people in transitional stages of their lives. She moved into Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence and took the role of President of the Residents Advocacy Board where she gave voice and stood up for the rights of the resident members of Providence. Susan was a thoughtful, compassionate, and beautiful soul with a wonderful sense of humour who led her thoughts with unconditional love. She mixed her days with love of family, friends, and Our Lady’s Missionaries with special mention for Sister Joan and Father Paul. Special thanks to the staff at Providence Houses for their care and friendships to Susan. Due to Covid restrictions there will be a life mass celebration later to be announced. Susan will be interred at Newmarket Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Susan can be made to Seeds of Hope Foundation or Out of the Cold.
