Obituary for Vic Tugwell

Victor Bruce Tugwell died suddenly on December 31, 2022 at Southlake Regional Health Centre at the age of 73. He was a lifelong Newmarket resident born January 17, 1949. His family and many friends are deeply saddened by his sudden death.

Vic is survived and greatly missed by his wife of 39 years Allison (Schnitzler) and his children Michael (Amanda) and Matthew (Jennifer). Predeceased by his Parents Charles and Helen (Flynn) and his Brother Brian (Diane). Lovingly remembered by his Brothers Paul (Pat) and Terry (Helen), Mother-in-Law Diane (Bob deceased), Sisters- in- Law Barbara (Kim), Louise (Ken), Lynda (Matthew) and their families.

Vic was a loyal fan of all sports but especially Hockey (Blackhawks), Football (Go Bills) and Baseball (Blue Jays). Sports played a major role in Vic’s life. He Volunteered for years with the YBC and York Simcoe Bowling Association (Hall of Fame Coach), the Newmarket Ladies Softball Association (where he met his wife Allison) and with his children in the Newmarket Minor Hockey Association and the Newmarket Baseball Association.

Vic worked for many years at Sterling Drug in Aurora and then with the John Forsyth Shirt Company as CFO.

He will be missed by the many friends, coworkers and neighbours he met through his life’s work and the active role he took in his children’s lives.

Vic always said he just wanted a party with food and drink and the remembering of stories (and there are many of them) with his family and friends. We will do so in April. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Charity of your choice.
