W. Ross Stroud, September 25th, in his 96th year. Born October 9th, 1926, to Wallace D. and Mary (Laidlaw) Stroud. Predeceased by sister Julie. Raised in North Toronto, he attended Lawrence Park Collegiate and the University of Toronto, graduating PEng, class of '50, the same year he married his high school sweetheart, Jean (Peacock) Stroud. They were married 68 years, until her death in 2018. Proud father to: Peggy Delaney (Bob), David Stroud (Sandra), Joanne Brown (Bruce), Barbara Stroud Ruuskanen (David), Grandpa Ross to 10, and Great-Grandpa to 12.

Most of his career was spent at Consumer's Glass, Etobicoke, and CE Lummus, North York, and upon retirement he and mom moved to Canton and Port Hope, eventually settling in Aurora. They loved spending time at their cottage in Woodridge, and many winters in Florida.

In his youth, dad played hockey for Lawrence Park Collegiate, and in 1944 his team won the City of Toronto championship at Maple Leaf Gardens. A keen private pilot, dad earned his wings in his early twenties, under the tutelage of Marion Orr, a famous Canadian female aviator. He flew for the last time on his 90th birthday. A ham radio operator, he belonged to both Canadian and US amateur associations. From an early age, and throughout his life, his love of cars, watches, and clocks was unparalleled.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Alexander Muir Retirement Residence for their many years of kindness. In most recent days, to Simcoe Manor LTC for their professionalism and devotion to his comfort and care. Words are never enough.

Arrangements entrusted to the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at Whyte's Cemetery.

"Dad, don't forget to let the phone ring once when you get home - give mom a big hug from us."
