Like so many other Bell Canada employees I had the privilege of working with Gary in downtown Toronto. There was always something going on with Gary, preparing for the annual family beach vacation, attending opening day at Skydome, building a garage and always upbeat. I will remember Gary for his unrelenting loyalty to his family and the many co-workers he befriended. For a brief period of time in the early 1980’s Gary was assigned to a work centre in west Toronto. Years later during my own assignment at this location one of the senior technicians made a special request for Gary to return for his retirement to present the Presidents wallet. In the day this was a very unique gesture that spoke volumes about both Gary’s experience and kind ways.

My sincere condolences to the Hamblin family for your loss.

Very sad to hear the news of Gary's death. Brings back a flood of happy memories of years gone by working and playing with Gary at "Shaw St" and later Trinity Square. Never a dull moment and always more pleasurable and entertaining with Gary around. Not only did I enjoy working with Gary, but have enjoyed many a trip with Gary. With Gary & Bobbi, Marg & I we made it a ritual to attend opening day at Jay games in those early days, when he was Mr. Blue Jay around CNE Stadium. I always lost opening day bet against the Jays and had to pay up by scarfing down a dozen raw oysters to Gary's delight. After losing so many times I eventually became fond of oysters. The 4 of us also made a couple of trips to Cleveland to the Browns games where we began to master the "tailgate". I always laugh when I recall the drive back after one trip when I saw Gary & Bobbi in back, enjoying a "traveler". They were wrapped in a Hotel blanket, I commented to Gary that they would know he took the blanket and bill him, when he laughed and said, No they won't, I took it from your room!!

My condolences to Hamblin family and closest friends. He will certainly be missed.

I will always remember visiting my Dad, Keith Smith, and my wake up call would be Gary arriving for his morning cup of java and then baseball updates. You will be missed Gary.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time and we regret that we are unable to attend and celebrate his life at this time.
Much love and prayers,
Sandra, Ray and family xoxo
