Obituary – Yvonne Joan BOVAIR

Our dear mother, Yvonne Joan Bovair sadly passed away at Bloomington Cove in Stouffville on Monday, September 4, 2023, in her 93rd year. Yvonne was predeceased by her best friend and loving husband of almost 72 years, Ross. Yvonne was the beloved mother of Cathi Jagodics (predeceased by Attila Jagodics), Gary Bovair (Julie) and Michelle Lavallee (Steve Bagley). Yvonne had 8 loving grandchildren and their partners who she was very proud of and loved to joke with a lot. Jennifer Perrin (Jon), Matthew Jagodics, Chris Jagodics (Robin), Shawn Bovair, Andrew Bovair, Holly Glass (Jeff), Emily Lavallee and Alyssa Lavallee. Yvonne never stopped loving and caring for her 7 great grandchildren, Tyler Perrin, Marissa Jagodics, Hailey Perrin, Attila Jagodics, Violet Jagodics, Zander Jagodics and Cooper Glass.

Yvonne was the oldest of 6 children of Alan and Gertrude Billing (predeceased). Yvonne is predeceased by her 4 brothers, Floyd (Cora – predeceased), Don (Sandra – predeceased), Larry (Marie) and Wayne. She is survived by her younger sister Anne Fortune (Ralph) who live in Nova Scotia.

Yvonne lived in King on the Bovair farm with Ross and her in-laws until they bought their first and only house on Mark Street in Aurora over 58 years ago. She worked at Cousin’s Dairy in Aurora, volunteered at the Newmarket Hospital when she could and was heavily involved in the Baptist Church family, including the choir and Sunday School Teacher. When her youngest, Michelle was entering Junior High, Yvonne decided it was time to work outside of the home. She loved her job in the Assessment Office for the Municipality of East Gwillimbury, until retirement.

Yvonne loved spending time with her family, music, reading, church functions and travelling. Yvonne ensured that her kids were brought up surrounded by a loving church family, taking them to Sunday School, reading them bible stories and teaching them to pray, sing hymns and love the Lord. Yvonne was the firm but loving matriarch of the family, just one look and you knew she meant business. Yvonne had the best sense of humor, loving to laugh and joke, going as far as putting for sale signs on friends’ lawns when they had no intention of selling…shhhh. She loved to entertain, always inviting family and friends, old and new to dinner or lunch after church. She will be dearly missed.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Bloomington Cove in Stouffville for their special care and attention to our dear mom who was stricken with Alzheimer’s for many years.

No service will take place as the family will be having a private remembrance of Yvonne.
Should anyone wish to make a donation, we ask that you consider the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
