Obituary for Vida Brookhuis (Miller)

Vida Maxine Brookhuis (nee Miller)
With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Vida on Saturday December 6th after a short illness.
She is predeceased by her husband, Andrew Brookhuis; partner Wally Ainslie; parents Maxine and Orin Miller, and brother’s Doug and Milton.
She is survived by her children, Kevin (Valerie) and Karen, grandchildren Connor and Corinne, and siblings Bernice Jones and Edmund (Paulette) Miller.
Vida was born and raised in Fort Erie, Ontario, and was a graduate of Fort Erie High School and the Greater Niagara General Hospital School of Nursing. She was dedicated to the nursing profession and remained in contact with her fellow graduates throughout her life. After her marriage to Andrew, she lived in Toronto, Uxbridge and Barrie, until Andrew’s death in 1998. In 2005 she relocated with Wally to Elliott Lake, where they spent many happy years enjoying both the scenery and an active social life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Renessa Retirement Residence in Newmarket, as well as to Dr. Cindy So, for their excellent and compassionate care during Vida’s illness. Thank you as well to all of her family and friends whose visits, calls, videos and cards brought her much comfort.
At Vida’s request, no formal service or visitation is planned. If desired, donations in her memory to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake would be appreciated.
