Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home is proud of our commitment to the community we live in. Proud to "give back" to the community we serve we partner with local charitable organizations and assist these charities through not only funds but committed volunteer work. Roadhouse & Rose is proud to be a community partner with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Wes Playter has served as a member of the local council since 2009. The Heart & Stroke Foundation is a volunteer-based health charity, leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through: * the advancement of research and its application; * the promotion of healthy living; and * advocacy.

Heritage Newmarket is a committee that advises Town Council on historical conservation issues. Heritage Newmarket is responsible for maintaining an inventory of designated heritage properties, public education, providing advice on buildings and features that may be worthy of preservation, administering grants for designated sites and advocating the preservation of worthy sites. Wes Playter worked as a summer-student for this committee and in March of 2011 was elected its chairperson.

Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation

Roadhouse & Rose is a proud partner of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation. Since 2010 we have been a partner with this organization through our tree-planting program. This program plants a tree for each family that we serve and contributes to local reforestration projects. The Roadhouse & Rose Memorial Park is located on the Holland River, south of Mulock Drive, in Newmarket.

Newmarket Chamber of Commerce

The Newmarket Chamber of Commerce is the Voice of Business in Newmarket, representing the interests of over 700 members through member programs and services, government representation and the development of public policy. Roadhouse & Rose is a proud Corporate Partner of the chamber and Wes Playter serves on the Board of Directors.

Newmarket Historical Society

The Newmarket Historical Society strives to preserve the heritage of the Newmarket community. The organization's archives are at the Elman W. Campbell Museum on Main St S, staffed Thursday 10 am-12 noon and 1-4 pm * meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (location varies) at 7:30 p.m. Jackie, Glenn and Wes Playter have all served as volunteers and as President for this organization.

Newmarket Veterans Association

Roadhouse & Rose is a proud supporter of the Newmarket Veterans Association - an organization dedicated to maintaining the welfare of veterans and their families and promoting the remembrance of those who died for our freedom. Wes Playter has served as the NVA`s Public Relation Officer since 2005, organizing their remembrance and decoration day services and promoting the remembrance of veterans in our schools and community.

Rotary Club of Newmarket

Roadhouse & Rose is proud to be a corporate member of the Newmarket Rotary Club. Rotary is a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and to help build goodwill and peace. Making the world a better place is an intricate puzzle and piece by piece, the women and men of Rotary have worked hard to fight hunger, promote literacy, and move the world toward peace. Wes Playter is a member of the Newmarket Rotary Club and Roadhouse & Rose is a proud corporate member.

Royal Canadian Legion - Milton Wesley Branch #426

The Royal Canadian Legion is the largest of the many veterans Organizations in Canada with over 358,000 members. Member categories—Ordinary, Associate, Affiliate; open to all Canadian citizens and Commonwealth subjects; app. 40,000 members of Ladies Auxiliary; "Military Member-At-Large category for serving members of the CF. Legion is non-profit, dues-supported, no financial assistance from any outside agency. Since inception in 1926, Legion strives to secure adequate pensions and benefits for veterans and their dependants, dealing directly with Federal Government. Major responsibility for the perpetuation of "REMEMBRANCE" in Canada through the Annual Poppy Campaign reminding Canadians of the 117,000 men and women who gave their lives in the wars and military missions around the world. Poppy funds collected are used for assistance to veterans, ex-service members and their families who are in need. Legion supports programs for seniors, community, housing, Long Term Care, youth, education, sports, Cadets, Guides and Scouts Roadhouse & Rose is a proud supporter of the legion. Wes Playter is a past executive member and Jackie Playter and Wes Playter are long-time volunteers.
