The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Stewart Sangster can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Nephew Drew

When thinking of my Uncle Canoose, I have nothing but smiles. I think of cards; all of the great family games, especially those with Irma, the Friday night games he played in at my house when I was little (when I heard swearing for the first time :)), and the stories of poker weekends at his cottage. My favorite story is how one night Stew was mad at my Dad for winning a big pot (after my Dad had sat out most of the hands before) and they were found the next morning asleep in each others arms on the couch. I think about the great job he got me at Ontario Hydro (he also got jobs there for both of my brothers and my Mom too) - we called it cashing in our "Stewey Ticket". I remember the great times at the cottage in Sauble Beach as kids. Christmases and other family gathering. My Mom (Judy) was as proud of her brother as a sister could be, and Stew and Ivi spent a lot of time together with my parents when they were younger (so many great stories). Stew was such a kind and unassuming guy, finding happiness in the simple things in life. But mostly when I think of Stew (and Ivi), I think of family!!! How they were there at every important Sangster family milestone, and how their greatest achievement is the amazing young families that Ben and Hayley have, and how important family is to them. Although he leaves well before we are ready to say goodbye, it helps me to believe that Stew would have been happy to see how great his kids and grandkids are doing, and that he leaves Ivi well provided for and surrounded by loving friends and family. I also think of him seeing Stewart, Gertie and Irma again in heaven, and watching over Ivi, Ben and Hayley and their families. I am so sorry for Ivi, Ben, Hayley, Julie and Eric (and their kids)! Canoose was one of a kind and he will be missed by so many!! Love Drew
