The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Camilla Eikeland can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Dear Nanny, --- Thank you. That is the phrase that comes to mind when I ponder what I want to say to you most. Thank you. --- My fondest childhood memories are of you nestled beside me, Our weekend ritual, watching Saturday night hockey, Even though the Leafs lost, it still never stopped us, Then Sunday morning, it was off to McDonald’s for breakfast. I’ll never forget our road trips to see Myrtle, Even stopping in New Brunswick to pick up some turtles, Back then it seemed to take forever to reach the East Coast, But now, it’s those times that I want back the most. Your hardships were many in your ninety-three years, But, your strength and courage made us naive to your fears, A loyal wife and caring mother to our mothers and fathers, True inspiration when raising our own, sons and daughters. Always there for your grandchildren, even though we were many, You allowed us to grow, knowing we always had Nanny. On Christmas and birthdays always thinking of us, And on your own special day, telling us “not to fuss”. Your strength and endurance is something we all seek, Could not have been easy, working with Dad six days a week, Forty years on the job, you made many, many friends, Heck, you taught most of Aurora how to clean a contact lens. I can still see you in the kitchen at 125 Orchard Heights, Me asking for a snack, you fixing me a bite, Slicing apples with sugar, over the counter I couldn’t see. Me playing with the figurines you collected from boxes of tea. We will never forget the precious time spent with you, Would do anything for those moments again, if only just a few. Your strength and stability holds our family together, Nanny, you are in our hearts — always and forever.
