Remembering Scott Forhan

We were taken aback, saddened and moved to tears at learning of Scott’s passing.  We have been seeing Scott for many years. This included Karen having some difficulties with walking. She subsequently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. His passing is a huge loss. Mainly of course for his four boys and his family. Also for many others whose lives he touched and have poured in accolades about his healing and his impact on their lives.  We wanted to add some additional impressions of Scott.  The term “North Star” is used to describe something that provides direction… one’s focus, meaning or direction…. something that is constant and grounding.  There are two things that stand out for us about Scott’s North Star (there doesn’t have to be just one meaning).  The first is his search for truth. He had the strength, courage and capability to search for truth. He was a healthcare professional without the expected credentials. He was extremely smart and hard working. He created his own methodology. He learned complex ideas from numerous sources, and integrated them into his practice. This can be a lonely journey and requires tremendous capability, commitment and perseverance… some might even say audacity! It requires great self-confidence and a thick skin. These great strengths, important for this journey, can also at times also lead to difficulties. In addition to being very capable and confident, Scott was very competitive. He certainly took some glee at tweaking the noses of some of those in the healthcare community that were closed to new ideas and other approaches.  Scott and his brother Mike have been working on a revolutionary fitness machine for some time. This is another manifestation of the depth of Scott’s capability. Hopefully, Mike will continue with this project and it will be another legacy to Scott and a tribute to their partnership of strengths.  However, Scott had another North Star that was stronger. It was his boys. While we haven’t had the pleasure of meeting them, we feel that we know them a little bit from all of the times that Scott has talked about them (with great pride and tenderness). Scott moving his practice from Toronto to Newmarket was a clear indication of this priority. While we were personally (and selfishly) a bit disappointed, it was so clearly the right decision.  Our hearts go out to Scott’s four boys. We think that they know that Scott found his North Star(s). Our hope is that they will find theirs. Given that they have quite diverse interests and gifts, we think / hope that they are on that path. And we believe / hope that they will receive love / support from family and friends as they continue on their journeys. Scott, you have passed away from this existence. But you remain firmly etched in the hearts and minds of many.  With Love, Ron Capelle and Karen King
