Condolence From: Rosemary Schmidt
Condolence: I appologize for this delay as I'm just viewing the condeolence e-mail tonight...but felt very strongly to add a few words to the many I'm sure already posted...

I knew Karen well from work at the City of Toronto. She filled in for me when I had to go downtown to fill in for my Manager for a 6 month period. I always liked Karen right from the start! Her quick wit and always fun attitude were what I related to. My staff loved her while she was in my office, and she was always there a phone call away to help with whatever came by.

I'm very sorry to have gotten the news. And although some time has already passed by, I'm sure the hurt and pain and loss is still very much present. Please have comfort that in life she was a happy and vibrant person and I'm sure a fighter all the way. You are in my prayers during this difficult time.

Condolence: Dave I'm so sad that Karen was taken, from us. Being a cancer survivor, every time that someone is struck with this dreadful illness, I wonder when will this stop? They should have discovered a cure by now. When Kelly Irwin let us know that Karen has passed, I was shocked, I knew she had been sick, but a long time ago.
My condolences to you and the O'Grady family. May God give you strength.
Love Olie

Condolence From: Kelly Gordon
Condolence: I've worked for the City of Toronto for the past 25 years and met Karen on my first day of work outside of the York Civic Centre. Karen was a dedicated City employee who was always willing to help you out in a time of need. She knew by-laws and policies and probably knew the whole collective agreement off by heart. She was extremely smart and witty, an all-round a really wonderful person. Our fathers worked together on the York Fire Department (David Irwin) and my husband (Chris Gordon) works for the TDSB he knows her brothers. Karen always spoke so highly of her family and was extremely proud of her nephews, nieces, brothers, in laws and her of course her husband Dave. Our hearts go out to you for your loss. It isn't fair that cancer has taken yet another wonderful life. Cherish the memories and think of Karen often. Rest in Peace Karen - Kelly and Chris Gordon, David and Pat Irwin

Condolence: A better sister, there will never be. She was strong, caring, smart and beautiful, inside and out. My big sister helped all who needed it. Karen was the world's best aunt. I will miss our conversations both on the phone and at the cottage. If you were doing well, she would tell you and if you weren't she'd be sure to tell you that too. Karen, you made me a better person. I will miss your courage and wisdom. I love you and miss you dearly.
