The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Frederick Ede can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Dave Perkins

Dear Jean; I apologize for the late message but I only just heard of Fred's passing courtesy of the IBM retirees rag. I was and am saddened to hear he had passed away. I knew him at IBM both from his days at Tech Support at 100 Valleybrook and later at 75 Barger Green, both in Don Mills. He would tell me of his adventures in the RAF in Hong Kong and his later times with IBM as Account Rep for BOAC in London and later in New York and still later at the aforementioned Tech Support here in Toronto. We hit it off right away. He once called me Old Horse. I responded by calling him "Sunbleached Pear"! He gave me a puzzled look and a loud chuckle when I gave him the reference (available upon request if necessary.) We would exchange e-mails at Christmas but sadly I missed any notice of his death (the new IBM has let these notices fall between the cracks.) I hope you take comfort in knowing that Fred was a good man to know and will be missed. Godspeed to him...
