LE BER, Barbara May -
Passed in her sleep at Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket, Ontario on May 13, 2020. Just a few weeks shy of her 92nd birthday, (Sheesh!!) “G-Dot” led a full life doing what she loved best, surrounding herself with family. A resident of Sharon, Ontario for more than 25 years and manager of the Newmarket Allergy Clinic for 30+, Barb will be remembered fondly for so many things. Always game for Scrabble, Bridge, travel and camping adventures, Barb impressed all who met her with her colourful turns of phrase, easy laugh and love of a good brandy.

Her quirky energy will be sorely missed by her children: Michael (Loraine), Tim, Stan (Deborah), Kelly (Bev), Alison (Wayne) and Nicky (John). Adored and admired by grandchildren: Corena, Nadine, Erik, Holly, Ryan, Danielle, Evan, Melanie, Amber and Andre; great grandchildren, Alicia, Brady, Felix, Calder and Skylar, along with great-great grandchildren Hayden and Isla.

Also survived by sister Kate Hill and many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by mother Alice Wilson, father Hugh Chalmers Wilson, sister Jean Niemi, brother Hugh Wilson, son-in-law Dan Sanchez and husband Maurice (Nick) Le Ber.
Mom’s one adamant regret in life was being a smoker until she was 50, which led to her COPD and many of her health struggles in later years.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at Amica Newmarket where Barb lived since 2015 along with the lovely Dr. Mulhern and the palliative care team.

Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held when circumstances permit. Until then, the family would love to read your on-line condolences at

If desired, memorial donations may be made to Margaret Bahen Hospice or West Park Rehabilitation Foundation.

I want to say to the family of Barbara that I knew most of them; all speak remarkably well for their dear mother whose loss will, no doubt be hard to bear. I hope you can rest well with the love and care she extended to you. I knew Alison by the remarks of former teachers and she must have been a miracle as I understood. Tim was a kind friend, of my brother, David. I taught Stan and he was a co-operative student who tried his best. Kelly was a colleague who became a very good teacher. Nicky was a student who employed all the attributes of the good student . She tried hard and when she needed help she was not too shy to ask for it! She did well.
I remember that Barb and Nick joined a cinema club which formed around a nun chairing the discussion after the film.My husband and Bert were part of the group which met at the theatre on Main St. in Newmarket. It was the 70's and some of the films were risque, but the nun never flinched, nor did we as we joined in discussion over coffee later with Barb's beautiful laugh. She was beyond getting upset by a film and probably treated the world with the same openness. She is remembered well through herself and her children. It was a privilege to know her and share a small part of her life.

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Leber, a woman I have known all my life but not seen in many years. My condolences go out to all of her children who were like brothers and sisters to me for so many years, so long ago. Rest in Peace.

Dear Kelly, Bev, Melanie and Evan.
I want to send my heartfelt condolences to all of you. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to meet "G-Dot", but she sounds like a remarkable woman. Certainly, her presence and influence led to the creation of the lovely family that is yours. Remarkable indeed! I hope that fond memories bring you much joy, and eventually out number the feelings of loss.

Much love, and virtual hugs, to all who are mourning Barbara's passing.
