Life Story for Harry Syratt

Harry Syratt
SYRATT, Harry (1927 – 2010)- Passed too soon Tuesday March 30, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

Harry will be unbelievably missed by Joan, his wife of 61 years, his children Norm, Donna & Joe, Helen & Jim, John & Leith, Dianne & Gil, Lorraine & Fred and Valerie & Brad. Loved & missed by 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He also leaves siblings & in-laws Bill & Ivy, Pat, Mary, Marj, Dierdre & Ivan, Betty, Ken & Olive, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends in Canada, England and Australia. Harry proudly served his country in WW II by joining the British Merchant Navy at 15 years old. He met and married the love of his life Joan and together emigrated to Canada in 1957 to give their family better opportunities. Harry became a true Canadian and loved this country’s beauty from coast to coast. He excelled in business and was a fantastic salesman, who could turn on the charm whenever needed. Harry was an amazing pianist who fronted many groups well known throughout the area. As well, his love of music led him to be a partner in a small recording studio in Newmarket, but he will always be remembered for his “boogie woogie”.
Harry loved family. His wife and family were the most important things in his life. He was loved so much, and was so many things to so many people, but in the end, he was Harry. A celebration of Harry’s life will take place on Saturday April 3, 2010 at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St., S., Newmarket. Family receiving will begin at 1 pm with a service and reception to follow at 3 pm. As per Harry’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association.
