Obituary for John D. (Jack) Malcolm

MALCOLM, John D. (Jack) – At Headwaters Health Centre in Orangeville, after a brief illness, on Thursday March 18, 2010. Born in Uxbridge in 1919, attended Newmarket High School and lived and worked in Newmarket, Brampton and Orangeville. Devoted husband, dedicated father, superb uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle; World War II veteran - RCAF radar group (Scotland, England, India); avid golfer, lover of sharp cars and big cigars; 42 years at Office Specialty beginning as office boy and retiring as Sales Manager; member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newmarket; founder and life member of the Association for Community Living (Newmarket); active participant at Table 13 – Lord Dufferin Seniors Residence, Orangeville. Predeceased by his wife Pearle (nee Davidson) in 1985 and only child Anne in 1994. Survived by nieces and nephews: Jane Van Eik and Guy Kelly, Paul and Tricia Stiles, David and Mary Ellen Stiles, Bob and Joanne Stiles, Don and Judith Stiles; great nieces and nephews: Liberty and Wally Fallon, Andrew and Frances Van Eik, Patrick Stiles, Randy and Amy Stiles, Ryan and Heather Stiles, Liam Stiles, Max Stiles and Christine Wilkins, Laura Stiles Clarke and James Clarke, Duncan and Yvonne Stiles, Lindsay Stiles and John Fraser, Rob Stiles, Sheila Stiles, Kevin and Janet Stiles, Audra and James Hutton; great-great nieces and nephews: Landon, Chloe, Julian, Damian, Preston, Alexandra, Regan, Dillon, Georgia, Ruby, Adam, Heather, Sarah and Emily. Although the frequency of golf rounds and fine cigars had decreased recently, memories were still cherished. Warm thanks for the exceptional level of care provided by staff at the Lord Dufferin Centre and Headwaters Heath Centre. Friends may call at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket on Friday from 7-9p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Main and Water St.), Saturday at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment at Queensville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Association for Community Living (Newmarket and Aurora) or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Newmarket.
