John Alexander  Hackson
HACKSON, John Alexander (Retired 25 year Town of Newmarket employee), Past President Newbeaver Shrine Club, Member of Tuscan Lodge #99, Order of the Eastern Star # 282, Past President Newmarket / East Gwillimbury Kinsmen Club, Founding member of Upper Canada Chordsmen and member of the Royal Canadian Legion – (Newmarket Branch #426) – Passed away peacefully at home with family on Monday August 24th, 2009, after a long, 8 year battle with COPD at 72. Beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Virginia Hackson. Loving father and mentor of Gregg, Graham(Marlene) and Brent(Tanya). John will be sadly missed by the apple of his eye grandchildren, Samantha, Jake, Joey, Nathan, Shane and Julia Hackson and Izabelle and Hunter Harrison. Loving brother of Dave( Helen) Lethbridge, AB, Sandra, Priceville ON, and the late Lorna and Neil. Loving son of the late Rev. Alexander and Hazel Hackson. Caring and loving son-in-law to Meryl Ormerod and the late Bob and brother-in-law to Allan Ormerod. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and special friends Jack & Bev Zangari, Keith and Carol Atherton, Bob and Bonnie Keffer and Jim and Joan Mortson, Anne Hackson and his best friend Shadow. Friends may call at the Sharon Hope United Church, 18648 Leslie Street, Sharon on Wed. Aug 26, 11:30 am until the time of a memorial service at 1pm, Masonic service at 11:00 am, internment at Queensville Cemetery following the service. John had many interests in his life including politics, music and singing, fishing and boating, travelling, the environment, the importance of community and the need to get involved. His passion in life was his family and the joy in sharing in everyone’s success and happiness. Johns support and mentoring will be missed by all those that had the advantage of this unique gift. Memorial donations, in memory of John Hackson may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital Fund or the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation.
