Marion Lucille  Thomson

THOMSON, Marion Lucille - Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in her 96th year. Marion, (nee Holtby), beloved wife of the late Dyle Thomson (d. 1974), and loving mother of Elaine O'Reilly and her husband Vince (Espanola), Murray and his wife, Elaine (Windsor), and Ian (Newmarket), will be dearly missed. Marion adored her family and was proud of her grandchildren, Christopher Marshall and his wife, Kristanne (Toronto), Jane Marshall (Halifax) and Sean O'Reilly (Montreal). She had a special bond with her only great-grandson, Rowan. Marion was born in Manchester, ON, September 26, 1914. She graduated in home economics from Macdonald Institute (University of Guelph) in 1941. Marion has always been devoted to her church and was a life member of the United Church Women (UCW) at Trinity United Church, Newmarket. She had a keen interest in Bible study, gardening, and community volunteer work. In recent years, she especially looked forward to family visits and loved her time at the lake. Friends may visit the family at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Tuesday, October 6 from 7-9 p.m. or 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, October 7 at Trinity United Church (461 Park St. at Main ) with Memorial Service at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the caring staff on the cardiac unit at Southlake, and a special thanks to Rev. Wardlaw for his compassion.
