Life Story for Robert George Grainger

GRAINGER, Robert (Bob) born in North Bay, Ontario in his 93rd year succumbed to a short illness complicated by pneumonia and a cardiac condition.
Peacefully passed away at Southlake Health Centre (Newmarket, Ontario) on October 13, 2009 at the age of 92. Loving husband of the late Elizabeth Grainger (nee Porter), beloved father of James (Jimmie), John (Johnnie), and daughter-in-law Elizabeth. Survived by Brother Homer and sister-in-law Gladys of North Bay, Ontario (currently residing in Brampton), and sister-in-law Maureen, Scarborough, sadly missed by five grandchildren, Rob, Glenn, Sean, Matthew, April, and six great-grandchildren plus countless friends. Remembered for his wealth of spirit, practical and professional inventiveness. Robert, former Director of Production, Technical Planning and Research, at The Toronto Telegram newspaper until its’ demise in 1971. Robert was well known throughout the graphic industry and was referred to as “Mr. Telegram”. Robert has held numerous management positions throughout his career and had gifted business acumen for the newspaper and printing industry. A WWII Veteran in service of his country for more then four years overseas. He will be fondly remembered for his wit, humour, leadership and a fire that he carried with pride for all the days of his life. Thanks to the staff at CHATS – Community Home Assistance To Seniors (126 Wellington St. W., Suite 103, Aurora, Ontario) and to the staff at Southlake Health Centre for their gentle and attentive care. Honouring Robert (Bob) and celebrating his life, relatives and friends are invited to raise a glass in memoriam of a great and loving wonderful father, friend and mentor at a location to be announced.
