Ted went to his rest at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Sunday, November 8th, 2009. He has left his adoring and adored wife, Lucille (Curl) and his children Graham Dyer (Johanne Daigle) and Carol Ann Dyer and Julia Bradley. Ted led a life of creativity and integrity. He was a long time legal reporter for the CBC, covering such tragic crimes as the baby murders at The Sick Children’s Hospital and the lurid tale of Hannah Buxbaum’s murder. A noted writer, he co-authored “The Modern Canoe” the definitive work on making a cedar Strip canoe. He loved golf, showing his champion German Shepherds, running his winning thoroughbred “To The Purple” at Woodbine, and tending to his beautiful prize winning roses. Most recently, he has been working on a series of Police Procedural novels. The many trials of his life had left him a double-amputee who, in spite of great pain, kept his positive, caring outward-focused attitude. He was a magnificent man who will be greatly missed. Staff at Southlake were very kind especially his night nurse, Sam, who went above and beyond to ensure Ted’s last days were as comfortable as possible. Thank you all. A celebration of his life, loves, and endurance will be held at a later date. Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home 157 Main St. S., Newmarket are providing cremation services and their kind Sean McCloskey has been of inestimable help at this sad time.
