Condolence: Jenny - So sorry to read about your mother's passing! I really enjoyed meeting her and talking with her in the Emergency department at the hospital over a year ago. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Condolence: I first met Vi and Charlie at Anstruther Lake, they had built their
cottage but my self being straight off the boat from England had no idea on how to build a cottage. We managed in the end, and have many happy memories of time spent with the Smiths.
Vi amazed me, when we first met here she was at the cottage with seven
children, the youngest being 4 weeks old. No Hydro and no running water, but she managed with a smile and her positive attitude.
She really was a remarkable women, and Charlie was always there to
support her, and of course all of the older children.

We will all miss her but we will have always the wonderful memories
spent at the Lake with the Smith's and of course Vi.

Condolence: To the Smith family - especially Jenny & Mike and Joanne
I'm so sorry that I didn't know of the funeral until Sunday evening, and my sympathy goes to your family in the loss of a wonderful mother. Vi and I worked together at A.H.S. and had many good visits over lunch and coffee breaks during those 8 or 9 years. She was a very warm and friendly person that I respected and admired as a friend. We talked about our families so often and in a way I felt that I knew each of you in some small way. Thinking back over those years brings back many good memories of a lovely lady.

Condolence: Dear Smith Family & especially Jenny & Joanne,
I was very sorry to hear that your Mom passed away last week. I was out of town all weekend for soccer and not able to attend the service or visitation but wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you.
Your mom was such a kind person. I didn't know her very well, but I do remember your family being one of the first on Webster drive to own a colour tv!!! Now I'm dating myself, aren't I? Joanne invited a group of us to see the beginning of that show "Family Affair" because the colours were truly beautiful in colour. Your mom came in as the group of girls (5 of us?) sat huddled around the tv, and served us Kool-aid. I remember thinking then how special I felt: Koolaid, colour tv & hanging around with some of the older kids on the street.
She was a sweet lady and I know you'll miss her dearly.
Take care of each other! Bonnie

Condolence From: Violet Gann
Condolence: To Vi Smith from Vi Gann (Sue'S Mum) You bravely left your English homeland, a war bride, with two children by your side. You had no idea what lay ahead. You did not worry; you put your faith in Charles instead. You built a house in Willowdale, and settled down to married life. The years sped by, your family increased in size. There were now seven mouths to feed. So for Charles, extra shifts on the bus were the need. In nineteen sixty one "dad" had saved and enough to purchase a cottage on a lake. Thereafter summers were glorious fun times, spent learning to swim, water ski and fish. "Dad" arrived on his days off, loaded down with supplies and goodies for his kids. Through the ensuing years,Vi and I shared many stories of the children and now of course we share grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I wasn't lucky enough to have borne son of my own, but I count myself blessed and I think you dear Vi for sharing your son Les with me. The love with which you raised your children continues to flow through them to their children and their children's children. God bless you dear Vi.

Condolence: I was so sorry to hear of Vi's passing. We worked together at A.H.S. during the 80's, and she kept me sane during those times when things seemed to be falling apart. Her warm, encouraging words really got me through some rough spots.
It was nice to meet Jenny at Fit City, and, once we figured out the connection, to reminisce about Vi and what she had meant to a young teacher.
With sincere condolence,
Drew Blackwell

Condolence From: Mary and Jon Masters
Condolence: Our love and sympathy goes out to all of you today, and we wish we lived much closer so we could be there to give them in person.
There are so many really happy remembrances of Vi, and the times we spent together talking up a storm drinking lots of sherry, either in the Summer on the deck, or at Christmas by the fire indoors. We will miss those precious times, but have them in our minds and hearts.
Our love to all of you,
Jon and Mary
