Condolence From: Peter Young
Condolence: Dear Jim and family -
It’s Peter Young writing, son of Joan Young. My wife Deb were so saddened to hear about Dotty and would like to extend our most sincere condolences to you and your family. As you know, she was one of Mom’s oldest and dearest friends - I was recently looking at a photo from Mom’s wedding day and there was Dotty as part of the bridal party. Your family’s tribute in the newspaper obituary was very fitting and touching. Dotty connected with so many people in her full life. Her musical legacy will always be remembered. In fact, one of the highlights of Mom’s latter years was joining you for the annual Christmas carol evening you hosted in your home.
Jim, I would just like you to know that Dotty was always a very special person to Mom, and I did also want to mention that Dad thought the world of you as well.
Sincerely,
Peter Young, Oshawa

Condolence: It is impossible to think about my happy childhood memories without including the Smythes, Jewsons and Beaumonts. We spent many wonderful summers up at Drag Lake and I have always treasured those times. Even now, after all these years, I can still clearly imagine the sound of Mrs. Smythe's and my mother's laughter and it invariably brings a smile to my face. There were so many good times shared between our families and I've often thought of all of you over the years. When I heard this sad news from my sister, Wilma, this morning, I wanted to send my deepest condolences to Rob, Patti and Sandra and of course, Mr. Smythe. Perhaps your mom and mine are up in heaven having a great laugh together while reminiscing over old times. They would certainly have lots to talk about.
A friend of mine once said, "Slowly, gently, time heals" and I have found this to be true. I hope you are able to find comfort in this thought while grieving your terrible loss.

Condolence From: Dorothy Butterfield
Condolence: My sincere sympathy and sadness at the loss of a lovely lady. My Husband and I enjoyed many hours of pleasure at the Home Show and Winter Fair listening to the music of Mrs. Bromby Smythe. She seemed to be playing directly to us with her warm smile. We were entranced with her music. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to Dorothy's family during this time. I knew Dorothy for many years as a member of the Church of Ascension and through my involvement in many Church productions. I recall Dorothy always as a fine, gracious and well-respected lady of the community. Again, my sympathies and fond remembrances of a life lived to the fullest.
