To my own true love Jim
To my wonderful wife. You are my own true love. For 59 happy years we lived together in remarkable harmony. I leave the tributes and plaudits, so well deserved, to your legion of friends - you touched the hearts of so many. For me you were just the perfect wife. I shall miss your love and close companionship -your wisdom, your laughter, your ability to join with me to make a happy home. The world is much better for your positive contribution. The Lord will surely say, "Well done, Dorothy, my good and faithful servant." My love for you is infinite. Jim

With Gratitude, Appreciation and a Heart Full of Love for my Mom. Love Sandra
Words can not express the depth of my love and appreciation for mom. I loved everything she was: I loved her smile, her laugh, her ability to genuinely connect with anyone, be it prince or pauper. I loved her generosity, her kindness, her sensitivity, and her genuine interest in others. I loved the little girl in her, for she did not hide it. I loved the strength of her spirit. I loved her musical talent - she was an awesome entertainer. Mom and I performed together on many an occasion, and we worked along side each other for years at the Royal. The very strong feelings of mutual respect and admiration will stay with me forever. I am so very proud of mom, and proud that she was my mom. I already miss her terribly, as do Bruce, Greg, Cayleigh and Sammy - because the loss of her presence in our lives is so huge. But I know, we know, that she is no longer suffering, for that was almost unbearable to witness. She is at peace now, and happy - because I am so sure the Lord has congratulated her and thanked her for being such an outstanding human being. Thanks Mom - for being such a wonderful mom, nana, wife, and person. I love you. Love Sandra

All the young talent that she discovered, molded and inspired.
Dorothy was one of the first people to hire me as a singer. Even when I was a young, inexperienced artist in my early twenties, she would always treat me with respect and professionalism. She included all her young singers in her life and we would laugh, sing and learn so much about music and the ‘business’. Dorothy encouraged, inspired and even baked for so many of us starting out in show business. She treated us all as equals and always with kindness. I will always remember rehearsing around the organ at her home before heading down to a Royal Winter Fair or a Home or Flower show where we always put on ‘one-hell-of-a-show.’ And boy could she could play that organ! I still recall her famous medleys; medleys full of songs about spring or of love “Love in is in the air everywhere you look around ‘ cause love is sweeping the country so all you need is love” and so on… and of course her great Broadway medleys (some of which I steal to this day). What I think Dorothy taught me most though, is how to entertain. She was a great entertainer herself in so many ways and wasn’t afraid to share her secrets, the most important being “treat your audience with respect”. I have been fortunate enough to have a career as a singer, entertainer and producer and will always give the great Dorothy Bromby Smythe credit for much of my success. Thank you Dorothy, on behalf of all the young talent that she discovered, molded and inspired. David Rogers Singer/Actor/Producer/Entertainer

Memories of time spent with a wonderful Aunt in Canada fill our thoughts as we mourn our loss and celebrate her life. We will forever love you Aunt Dot, and never forget your love, kindness, generosity, humor and fantastic cooking! To our cousins in Canada, we love and miss you and pray for your strength during this difficult time. To our Uncle Jim, we love you and pray for you - stay strong and close to your children and grandchildren - they need you more than ever right now. We love you all very much.
