John Ashton

Dear Sandra and Family: I am very sorry to learn of Ian's passing. As a Huron Heights colleague for eighteen years, I know that Ian was respected not only for his librarian skills, but for his advocacy for the betterment of both student and teacher issues. I remember Ian to be a kind and gentle social activist, and I was pleased to be a member of his political campaign when he ran for the provincial NDP. Ian was a good and decent man who made a difference, both in his school and in his community, and he will be missed by all those who knew him. We had many lively Federation meetings and Huron Heights staff parties at the Aurora Legion, and I'm sure Ian would be delighted to know that his friends and family will be gathered there in his memory on January 4th. I'm sorry I can't be there to celebrate his life with you, but I send my thoughts and deepest sympathies to you and all the Scott Family. Sincerely, John Ashton, Sidney, BC.
